The mayors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki requested President Obama to visit the A-bombed cities

On December 16, 2013, Mayor Matsui of Hiroshima, President of Mayors for Peace, and Mayor Taue of Nagasaki, Vice President, visited Ambassador Caroline Kennedy at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo and made a request for President Obama to visit Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Ambassador Kennedy suggested them to send a letter of request to President Obama. In response, both mayors signed a letter of request to ask President Obama’s visit to Hiroshima and Nagasaki and delivered it to the U.S. Embassy through Tokyo offices of both cities on December 26.
