Hannover develops PEACE WALK – Places of Peace in Hannover

[Germany, Hannover]

Report by Ms. Evelyn Kamissek, City of Hannover, Germany (Mayors for Peace Lead City)

“Peace Walk” is the title of a special exploration in Hannover. Ten selected locations in the city that highlight the importance of peace invite visitors to find traces of peace and reflect on the themes of creating and preserving peace. This project by the Mayors for Peace office in Hannover is based on an idea from civil society and aims to send a positive message in support of peace and against war.

In collaboration with a comprehensive school in Hannover, the Peace Walk is being further developed with students in a digital format.

Especially in these turbulent times, Mayors for Peace considers it important to reaffirm the values of peace, liberal democracy, and human rights. The goal is to highlight the locations in Hannover that are connected to the theme of peace even more clearly than before as part of Mayors for Peace’s work. The brochure is available for download or as a printed version, which is available at municipal facilities.
