September 2025[Malakoff, France]

Report by Ms. Lorena Schlicht, Mayors for Peace France (AFCDRP)

As part of the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the city of Malakoff hosted the Quinzaine de la Paix (Fortnight for Peace) under the theme “Perspectives on Peace.” The initiative was led by the Collective of Artists for Peace and the Collective of Associations for Peace and International Solidarity, with support from the municipality.

The program began on September 16 with an art exhibition by the Artists for Peace, featuring works created as gifts for the mayors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. On September 20, during the Festival de la Tréso, intergenerational peace workshops were held, including Sewing for Peace, Beads for Peace, Watercolors for Peace, Origami Cranes for Peace, and Japanese Calligraphy for Peace.

The event concluded on September 25 with a screening of the film L’Oiseau Bonheur, presented by Miho Shima-Cibot, in commemoration of the Hiroshima bombing — a moving moment of remembrance and artistic expression dedicated to peace.
