New educational material released by the Mayors for Peace Netherlands Chapter

November 21, 2016 [Netherlands Chapter]

Report by Hans van Iterson, on behalf of the Secretariat of Mayors for Peace-Nederland

The Mayors for Peace Netherlands Chapter has produced educational material in Dutch for primary and secondary school pupils (10-14 years) titled “Atoomwapens de wereld uit!”(Get rid of nuclear weapons worldwide) .

The 16-page material makes it clear why there is no place for nuclear weapons in our world. It encourages young people to reflect on peace, freedom and security, helping them to think about what you can do in order to realize a nuclear-weapon-free world.

The material was officially released in the City Hall of Wageningen, one of the leading Dutch Mayors for Peace members, on September 21, the UN International Peace Day. All members of Mayors for Peace Netherlands have received a letter inviting them to utilize the material in their city.

The Mayors for Peace Netherlands will promote the use of the materials as well as use it to recruit more members to the organization in the Netherlands.

The educational material and the manual for teachers (in Dutch) can be downloaded on the website of IPPNW-The Netherlands.
