Kahrizsang City’s Commemorative Ceremony on the Day of Remembrance for All Victims of Chemical Warfare

On April 29, the Day of Remembrance for All Victims of Chemical Warfare, a memorial ceremony for the chemical weapons victims of the cities of Kahrizsang and Najaf Abad was held in Kahrizsang City in the presence of the mayor of Kahrizsang, city council members, representatives of the victims, the head of the Martyr Foundation in the City of Najaf Abad, Brigadier General Amini, cultural adviser to the mayor and veterans.

At the ceremony, the words of the national anthem were recited. Mr. Majid Hojaji, Mayor of Kahrizsang, gave a brief description of the event proceedings. Then, the message of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to veterans who were exposed to chemical weapons was read out and distributed to the participants. In response, the cultural adviser of the mayor read out the mayor’s message to Mr. Ban Ki-moon.

During the ceremony the victims’ voices were heard, especially on the problems and needs of those who faced this unprecedented tragedy.The ceremony was closed with a celebration of gifts donated by the mayor to the veterans.
