An NGO representative from Hiroshima presented the Mayors for Peace Certification of Membership to the Mayor of Amir Kola

In a ceremony held in Amir Kola city in Northern Iran, the Mayors for Peace Certification of Membership of Amir Kola city was presented to the mayor of Amir Kola. Representatives of the MOCT Association (an NGO) from Hiroshima, Volunteers fromTehran Peace Museum, members of city council, and some survivors of chemical weapons were among participants.

In this ceremony, Ms. Shizuko Tsuya, the president of the MOCT NGO, explained about the A-bomb experience of Hiroshima, and the involvement of its people in activities to raise awareness against Nuclear Weapons.

The mayor of Amir Kola said that the people of Iran and Amir Kola have suffered from the bitter experience of the use of chemical weapons, which is why they are trying to raise awareness so that all Weapons of Mass Destruction can be abolished.

Amir Kola is one of the 200th Iranian member cities of Mayors for Peace joined as of May 1st with their commitment to the 2020 Vision Campaign.
