Mayors for Peace has implemented programs to encourage and inspire younger generations to get involved in peace activities in the future. These programs provide financial and other support to selected youth from member cities who would like to participate in the peace and exchange programs in Hiroshima to learn about the experiences of A-bomb survivors and their desire for peace.
In the fiscal year 2017, we invited six youth participants from Mayors for Peace member cities to participate in an exchange activity called the “International Youth Conference for Peace in the Future, 2017 Hiroshima” which was implemented by the Executive Committee of the International Youth Conference for Peace in the Future, 2017 Hiroshima. The theme of the conference was peace contribution by youth from Hiroshima city and its sister/friendship cities. During a special session organized by Mayors for Peace the six participants gave presentations on the peace activities carried out by their cities
