February 7, 2006
APPEAL FOR PEACE WITH IRAN BY 50 PARLIAMENTARIANS AND 200 NGOs.
(See the Appeal)

50 Parliamentarians and 200 Non-Governmental organisations are appealing for a peaceful solution to the problem of Iran’s nuclear program, in the light of increasing rumours of military action, and the possible referral of Iran to the Security Council.

They are headed by Tadatoshi Akiba, Mayor of Hiroshima, (who will be launching the appeal), and include MEP Angelika Beer, President of the European Parliamentary delegation on Iran. Non-governmental organisations that have signed the appeal include International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, Greenpeace, Abolition-2000, Womens International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), the Association of World Citizens, and the International Fellowship of Reconciliation.

The appeal has been organised by Friends of the Earth (Australia and Flanders), Action des Citoyens pour le Desarmement Nucleaire, (ACDN), IPPNW-Germany, and Mayors for Peace.

It is to be released on Feb7th in Hiroshima, Sydney, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, The Hague, and Geneva.
