General Assembly of Mayors for Peace France: Toward an Ambitious Roadmap for 2025

On December 6, 2024, Mayors for Peace France held its annual General Assembly online to validate the financial accounts for 2022 and 2023 and set the strategic direction for 2025. The event focused on key upcoming initiatives, particularly the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings in 2025. Plans for the 11th General Conference of Mayors for Peace, scheduled to take place in Nagasaki in August 2025, were also discussed, with a proposal to send a delegation of French municipalities.

The General Assembly was marked by rich and constructive discussions, setting clear priorities for the year ahead. Mayors for Peace France aims to become a leading reference in peace culture, enhancing membership engagement and involvement. Initiatives in sports, culture, arts, and education were highlighted, along with the importance of offering training for elected officials and local government staff.

A renewed focus was placed on supporting and sharing local and international initiatives, strengthening Mayors for Peace’s role as a key player in peace cooperation. The assembly’s outcomes are set to guide the organization in its efforts to foster a culture of peace, promote active participation, and expand its reach in 2025.
