Report by Ms. Lorena Schlicht, Mayors for Peace France (AFCDRP)
Live Peace is a global initiative that invites towns, villages, bars, restaurants, and individuals worldwide to organize musical events or live performances under the banner of Live Peace, united by the common message, “We want peace.” These events are held every year on September 21 to celebrate the UN International Day of Peace.
The initiative was launched in collaboration with three Nobel Peace Prize laureates: the International Peace Bureau, the Tawakkol Karman Foundation, and the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), alongside key partners such as Mayors for Peace France and the Mouvement de la Paix.
In 2024, several French cities including Grigny, Saran, and Lasseran—organized Live Peace events. Building on the inspiration of the iconic Live Aid concerts, Live Peace aims to grow exponentially in the coming years, with the goal of organizing one major concert on each continent, drawing millions of people together in support of global peace.
