On January 23, 2023, a day after the second anniversary of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), AFCDRP–Mayors for Peace France issued a letter of appeal to the President of the French Republic, calling for the French government’s attendance at the second Meeting of States Parties to the TPNW as an observer. Furthermore, the letter expresses hope that the G7 Summit in Hiroshima this year provides the French President with an opportunity to take full measures against disastrous effects of nuclear weapons.
