The Mayor of Hiroshima delivers a lecture during a Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Studｙ Course at Hiroshima Shudo University
On Friday, May 21, 2010, Mayor Akiba of Hiroshima visited Hiroshima Shudo University where a Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Study Course has been established and delivered a speech titled "The path to a peaceful world, free from nuclear weapons: The 21st century-people solving their own problems". About 60 students attended the lecture.
During the lecture, Mayor Akiba introduced the reality of the atomic bombings and the message of the A-bomb survivors. He also stressed the importance of the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Study Courses that the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have been promoting at colleges and universities around the world. The courses aim to convey the atomic bomb experiences to future generations in an academic setting.
