Chairman of the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation delivers a lecture on the “Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Study Courses” at Osaka University

On Friday, November 27, 2009, Mr. Steve Leeper, Chairman of the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, visited Osaka University and delivered a lecture entitled “Six months that could determine the fate of humanity” for about 30 students.

Mr. Leeper explained what “peace” and “peace culture” are. And while explaining how to prevent wars, he also touched on the current global nuclear situation. He also stressed that Japan, with Article 9 of the Japanese “Peace” Constitution, plays a key role in establishing a nuclear-weapon-free world as the only atomic-bombed nation. He then spoke on the significance of citizens’ grassroots activities, including petition drives.
