Hiroshima Peace Study Field Trip of Universiti Sains Malayisia (Malaysia) 2024
On September 17 (Tue), students from Universiti Sains Malaysia (University of Science Malaysia) learned about peace in Hiroshima as the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Study Course. They visited the Peace Memorial Museum, the National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, and Peace Memorial Park. They also listened to the testimony of an atomic bomb survivor and Atomic Bomb Memoir Readings.
This program is run as the university’s Peace Study Program, and it was the third trip since the program had been recognized as a Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Study Course in 2018.
Despite the lingering heat of summer, the students listened enthusiastically to the testimonies of atomic bomb survivors, as well as to the volunteers who delivered readings and those who guided them through the Peace Memorial Park. They asked questions and shared their thoughts, making it a valuable peace education experience in which the students deepened their understanding of the realities of the atomic bombing and reflected once again on the importance of peace.
