The mayor of Hiroshima delivers a lecture at a Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Study course in Kwansei Gakuin University
2On July 6, 2010, Mayor Akiba of Hiroshima delivered a speech titled "The path to a peaceful world, free from nuclear weapons: The 21st century-people solving their own problems", at Kwansei Gakuin University. The University established a Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Study Course in 2004, and the mayor has been invited to give a lecture evey year since then. About 160 students attended the lecture.
During the lecture, Mayor Akiba thoroughly explained the reality of the atomic bombings, introduced the activities of Mayors for Peace, suggested ways for students to create a peaceful world and called on them to work together. The students eagerly listened to his strong message that nuclear war must never be repeated.
