Mayor of Hiroshima delivered a speech in conjunction with "Hiroshima Logic" at Hiroshima City University
On Monday, January 19, 2009, Mayor Akiba of Hiroshima visited Hiroshima City University, where its several subjects including "Hiroshima Logic" have been recognized as the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Study Courses. The mayor gave a lecture entitled "The path to a peaceful world, free from nuclear weapons: The 21st century-people solving their own problems" in front of about 280 students. In his speech, he introduced the reality of the atomic bombings and messages of A-bomb survivors, while stressing the significance of efforts by cities and citizens toward the abolition of nuclear weapons and importance for younger generations to succeed in the legacy of the A-bomb experience.
