Hiroshima Peace Study Tour 2012, University of Indianapolis
From Sunday, May 13 to Friday, May 18, 2012, a class from the University of Indianapolis (U.S.) carried out its second Hiroshima Peace Study tour. Fourteen participants including twelve students and two professors studied peace issues while experiencing Japanese culture.
They visited peace related facilities, buildings exposed to the A-bomb, and the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF), and listened to the testimony of an A-bomb survivor. They gained knowledge about the reality of the A-bombing through such activities. At a recital of A-bomb poems at the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, Indianapolis students listened to the poems read by volunteers and the students read poems as well.
This study tour was held as a part of the "Hiroshima Peace Study" course, which was recognized as a Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Study Course effective April 1st, 2010.
