2011 Hiroshima Seminar, International Christian University (ICU)
Selected by the Rotary Club headquarters in the US, 20 students enrolled in a master’s course from the International Christian University (ICU) visited Hiroshima as part of a field trip from Sunday, November 27 and Tuesday, November 29, 2011. This was the ninth field trip by ICU to Hiroshima after their first trip in 2003.
They learned much about the reality of the atomic bombings through various activities including a visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and listening to the testimony of an A-bomb survivor. During discussion with researchers of the Hiroshima Peace Institute, they exchanged opinions regarding such issues as arguments and realities on the A-bombing in Hiroshima, problems in the abolition of nuclear weapons and civilian use of nuclear energy.
