Mayor of Nagasaki delivers lectures at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and Kyoto Junior College of Foreign Languages
On Wednesday, July 2, 2008, Mayor Taue of Nagasaki visited Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and Kyoto Junior College of Foreign Languages. The mayor of Nagasaki delivered two lectures entitled, "As the mayor of the A-bombed city: A-bomb experiences handed down for generations" in front of students from both institutions including foreign students studying there. The first lecture was listened to by 573 students and the second one was by 692 students
Mayor Taue illustrated the past history of Nagasaki, introduced various efforts for peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons by the citizens of Nagasaki, and stressed that to facilitate participation with all generations in activities for peace, it is important to respect the diversity of different activities.
