Hiroshima Field Trip 2008, Bowling Green State University
Nine students from Bowling Green State University (BGSU), Ohio, USA participated ina field trip to Hiroshima from Friday, August 1st to Thursday, August 7th.
This field trip is a part of their course "Hiroshima and Beyond" and jointly organized as "Peace Seminar 2008" with Hiroshima Jogakuin University, a university affiliated with BGSU, with participation by students from both universities. The participants toured the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and monuments in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, attended the intensive lectures and deepened their knowleddge on nuclear weapons and peace issues.
In the seminar, they also conducted fieldwork around the U.S. Marine Corps Air Station IWAKUNI, and studied issues related to military bases.
On Wednesday, August 6th, Hiroshima Day, they observed the Peace Memorial Ceremony in the morning, which was the highlight of the field trip in Hiroshima, and floated lanterns with their wishes for peace in the evening.
