President Akiba spoke at the "2nd UCLG（United Cities and Local Governments) World Congress" held in the Special Self-Governing Province of Jeju, South Korea.

The anniversary commemorative workshop of Pugwash Conference
July 7, 2007
President Akiba attended the “Disarmament Workshop ‘Revitalizing Nuclear Disarmament’”, which was a commemorative event for the 50th anniversary of the Pugwash Conferences, held in Pugwash,Canada. He asked all to concentrate the power of the citizens and to realize the nuclear weapon-free world by the year 2020

	The 2007 NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) Preparatory Committee May 2, 2007 Representatives, including mayors, from member cities of Mayors for Peace comprises Mayoral Delegation, and attended the Preparatory Committee for the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) Review Conference held in Vienna, Austria, and President Akiba delivered a speech at the NGO session.
	The 70th Anniversary of the Bombing of Gernika April 26, 2007 President Akiba attended the 70th Anniversary of the Bombing of Gernika. He called for the solidarity of cities in the world and signed the "Gernika Declaration" which is a witten pledge directed toward the avoidance of attacks on cities and the realization of a peaceful world.
	The 7th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates November 17, 2006 President Akiba attended the 7th World Summit of Novel Peace Laureates held in Rome/Itary and gave a speech at the opening session that was themed "Atoms for Peace or for War."

ICJ 10th Anniversary Commemorative Events
July 5, 2006
On the occasion of 10th anniversary of the ICJ advisory opinion stating "...the threat or use of nuclear weapons would generally be contrary to the rules of international raw", we organized mayoral delegation and participated in commemorative meetings held by European Peace NGOs.
