Hiroshima Study Tour by a group of 38 students from American, Ritsumeikan and other universities

A group of 38 stundents from American University (USA), Ritsumeikan University (Japan), Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (Japan) and the University of British Columbia (Canada) visited Hiroshima as a part of their study tour from Monday, August 4th to Thursday, August 7th.

This is the fifth study tour jointly organized by American and Ritsumeikan universities. During their stay in Hiroshima, they have learned much about the reality of the atomic bombings through various activities including attending the Peace Memorial Ceremony, visiting the Peace Memorial Museum and other peace related facilities such as the Radiation Effects Reserch Foundation, and taking part in a lecture by the Hiroshima Peace Institute, and listening to an A-bomb survivor's testimony.

On their last day in Hiroshima, the students had a meeting with Mayor Akiba of Hiroshima, an opinion exchange session with Chairman Leeper of the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation and also strengthened their knowledge on the efforts for peace being made by the City of Hiroshima.
