The Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
–The 5000-Member Milestone Exhibition-
1. Overview
To raise global public awareness for abolition of nuclear weapons, we need to convey the reality of the atomic bombings wider than ever.
Accordingly, at the 8th Executive Conference of Mayors for Peace in November 2011, to commemorate the number of member cities of Mayors for Peace exceeding the 5,000 city-milestone; we adopted an agenda that Mayors for Peace would create a new poster exhibit on the reality of the atomic bomb damage which is available to all our member cities. The poster exhibit will be premiered in the city of Vienna, Austria in May 2012 along with the first Preparatory Committee meeting for the NPT Review Conference, and we encourage all member cities to hold poster exhibits around August this year.
2. Date and Venue
- May 2012
Held at the Vienna International Center building (the office building in
which UN related organizations are housed) or at the Vienna City Hall.

- Within year 2012
Please hold the exhibition at places such as city halls located in member cities or public spaces, where many people gather etc.
