Recipient and Venue: On November 9, Mayor Matsui, Mayor of Granollers, participants of the Executive Conference and mayors of neighboring member cities attended the Awards Ceremony of the“XXXII Prize for Peace”at Diputacio de Barcelona (Barcelona Prefectural Hall) and received the award certificate and the list of extra prize money totaling 18,000 Euro (About 1,900,000 yen).
Outline of the Award: On October 24, commemorating the anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, the prize was established in 1979 and has been conferred every year to recognize an individual or collective work, a personal career or an organization that spread praise and purposes contained in the Charter of the United Nations.

Recipient and Venue: On behalf of the president of Mayors for Peace, Mayor Josep Mayoral i Angtigas of Granollers (Spain), Vice President of Mayors for Peace, attended the awards ceremony and received the award in Gernika-Lumo, Basque Country, Spain.
Outline of the Award: Established in 2005, every year, the prizes presented to the work of people working towards peace, and to great leaders, personalities or institutions which have worked to transform conflict and lay the cornerstones of future reconciliation processes.

Recipient and Venue: Mayors for Peace and its president, Hiroshima Mayor Tadatoshi Akiba, were presented with the awards. The awards ceremony was held in the City of Salzburg in Austria and co-hosted by the Salzburg Provincial Government.
Outline of the Award: The Nuclear-Free Future Award was established in 1998 to honor individuals and groups working towards the realization of a world rid of nuclear weapons and nuclear energy, and making notable contributions in the categories of 1) Solutions, 2) Education, and 3) Resistance, as well as an honorary Lifetime Achievement award to those who have worked in this field for a long time. Mayors for Peace received the award for Solutions.

Presented by: International Peace Bureau (IPB) (headquarters: Geneva, Switzerland)
Date: September 8, 2006
Recipient and Venue: Mayor of Hiroshima received the award on behalf of Mayors for Peace at a ceremony during an IPB General Assembly in Helsinki. The same medal was given to the mayor of Nagasaki at the Global Citizens' Assembly in Nagasaki in October.
Outline of the Award: Commemorating the achievements of Sean MacBride, the distinguished Irish statesman who was Chairman of IPB from 1968-74 and President from 1974-1985, this prize, established in 1992, is given every year to a group or individual who makes a conspicuous contribution to peace, disarmament and/or human rights.

Presented by: Nuclear Age Peace Foundation (headquarters: Santa Barbara, California; founded in 1998).
Date: October 8, 2004
Recipient and Venue: The Mayor of Hiroshima received the award on behalf of Mayors for Peace at a ceremony in Hiroshima.
Outline of the Award: The award is presented every year to individuals or groups that have made excellent contributions to world peace and human development.
